Área reservadaThe reform of the Supervision Model of the Financial Sector in Portugal and in the EU
The JEAN MONNET Chair in Economic Regulation of the EU of Universidade de Lisboa (UL - FDL), the CIRSF – Centro de Investigação em Regulação e Supervisão do Sector Financeiro, (www.cirsf.eu) with the cooperation of its Scientific Partner, European Banking Institute, from Frankfurt (EBI - https://ebi-europa.eu) organizes an International Conference on the 27 october 2017 (morning), starting at 9h30 and finishing at 13h30.
After the major international crisis of the financial system, the reform of its regulation and supervision has been an important issue for the funcionning of our economies and our societies. In this context, a critical debate on the institutional organization models of financial supervision became essential. In Portugal, the XXI Constitutional Government launched a PUBLIC CONSULTATION on the report of the Grupo de Trabalho para a Reforma do Sistema de Supervisão Financeira, coordinated by Carlos Tavares, which includes a Proposal for the Reform of the Financial Supervision Model. A possible reform of the European authorities for financial regulation and supervision (EBA, ESMA e EIOPA) is underway in the EU, based on the public consultation launched by the European Commission in the first semester of 2017 (“Review of ESAs”).
